Music Standards and Effort grading
At HALLMAN we give two kinds of grades for music class. The first reflects the mastery of skills or "Music Standards" grade. The second grade reflects effort and participation.
For the Music Standards grade students receive a number grade of 1-4.
4 = Exceeds Proficiency in ALL areas/ objectives within standard at grade level
3 = Proficient in ALL areas / objectives within standard at grade level
2 = Developing Proficiency successful with some of the objectives within standard
1 = Limited Proficiency shows little or no progress toward standard.
The second is an Effort Grade which reflects effort, participation and behavior.
For the Effort Grade the marks available are:
E = actively participates in the learning process and encourages / models for other students.
S+ = Actively participates in the learning process
S = participates in the learning process most of the time
S- = Participates in the learning process some of the time, but needs redirection from the teacher
AC = Area of Concern, does not participate and/ or student's behavior interferes with the learning process
